Dr. Marcus Williams, DVM

Dr. Marcus Williams didn't grow up around animals — he grew up around athletes. A former college soccer player at Tuskegee University, he originally planned to go into sports medicine. Then a summer volunteering at the university's veterinary teaching hospital changed everything. "I realized the patience and precision I loved about sports rehab applied just as much to orthopedic surgery on a 70-pound Lab," he says.

Dr. Williams graduated from Tuskegee University College of Veterinary Medicine with honors, then completed additional training in orthopedic surgery and emergency medicine. He joined Clix Family Hospitals in 2019, bringing expertise in cruciate ligament repair, fracture management, and luxating patella correction — the kind of surgeries that get dogs back on their feet and back to being themselves.

But surgery is only part of what drives him. Dr. Williams is the go-to doctor for exotic animal consultations and has a particular soft spot for reptiles and small mammals. He's also the team's emergency medicine specialist, bringing the same cool-under-pressure composure whether he's performing a 3 AM foreign body removal or explaining post-op care to a nervous pet parent.

Outside the clinic, Dr. Williams coaches youth soccer in the Webster Groves league — "teaching 8-year-olds to pass instead of all chasing the ball at once," he jokes. He lives in Maplewood with Chief, his golden retriever, who serves as the unofficial team mascot at Saturday morning games.
